Hair Transplant Graft Calculator Formula
The graft calculation formula uses a density-area model:
Grafts = Balding Area (cm²) × Target Density (grafts/cm²) × Coverage Multiplier × Contrast Multiplier
Natural scalp density is approximately 60–100 follicular units per cm². Transplant density of 25–55 grafts/cm² achieves a natural appearance because transplanted hair is strategically placed to maximise visual coverage. Curly and coily hair covers more area per graft (coverage multiplier < 1.0), while high color contrast between hair and scalp requires more grafts for visual fullness.
Cost is calculated as: Total Cost = Grafts × Cost Per Graft (region-specific)

Follicular Unit Extraction
Individual grafts extracted one by one from the donor area using a micro-punch tool (0.6–1.0mm). Pros: No linear scar, faster recovery. Cons: Longer procedure, higher cost per graft. Best for smaller sessions and patients who wear short hair.
Follicular Unit Transplantation
A strip of scalp is surgically removed from the donor area and dissected into individual grafts. Pros: More grafts per session, lower cost per graft. Cons: Linear scar, longer recovery. Best for patients needing maximum grafts in one session.
Direct Hair Implantation
A Choi implanter pen is used to simultaneously create the recipient site and implant the graft. Pros: No need to pre-make recipient holes, precise angle control. Cons: Slowest procedure, most expensive, fewer grafts per session.

What to Expect After a Transplant
Week 1–2
